Amethyst is a purple form of Quartz in which traces of manganese create the purple colour, while traces of iron are responsible
for its depth. The word “amethyst” derives from the Greek ‘amethystos’, thus, from ‘a’ (anti) plus ‘methyein’ (to be drunk)
or ’methy ’ (wine). This stone is purported to calm the mind, to enhance meditation or dream state and to relax the body.
It is said to be a calming stone that soothes those in constant mental activity, and, therefore, it has earned the nickname of
“Nature’s Tranquilizer.
