Botswana Agate is a translucent, cryptocrystalline variety of quartz that exhibits reddish hues caused by the included carnelian
agate. It is found exclusively in Botswana and, as all agates, forms a sub-variety of chalcedony. Its chemical structure
is identical to Jasper, Flint or Tiger’s Eye. Agates are often found in association with Opal and, therefore, coexist with
layers or masses of opal, jasper or crystalline quartz due to ambient conditions during the formation process. According
to ancient traditions, this precious stone protects against the biting of scorpions or serpents, soothes the mind, drives away
contagion and puts a stop to thunder and lightning. It is also said to dispose the wearer of solitude, promote eloquence
and secure the favours of princes. It gives victory over enemies to those who wear it.
