Opalite is as well often referred to as Moonstone Quartz, Opalized Quartz, Gerisol, Lunar Quartz or Sea Opal. It is also a
name for precious opal imitations made mainly of particular resins in which the play-of-colour is simulated through the inclusions
of a variety of materials. It has a milky colour with a distinct blue fire tone. Held against a white background, it has
a yellowish tinge. Powdered Opalite may be used as a component for the production of precious glasses reproducing and simulating
the refraction of light typical of precious and, therefore, extremely expensive opal stones. Some gemstone dealers
mistakenly call natural opals with no play of colour ‘Opalite’.
While glass stones like Goldstone or Cherry Quartz carry the physical (and sometimes health) properties of natural glasses
such as pure Quartz, Opalite has no known healing properties.
